They act as a biofeedback device that can teach you how your breathing style (frequent, shallow beaths vs. deep, long breaths) affects your blood oxygen. You can also determine whether you are staying aerobic or going anaerobic as your heart rate increases.The SPO 5500 is particularly well suited for this. It weighs less than 2 oz. an unlike other finger pulse oximeters the SPO 5500 is able to take readings while you are in motion and the LCD screen is visible in full sun or complete darkness. In addition the lithium batteries last for 1000 hrs. compared to only 24 hrs for the other brands. The SPO 5500 includes a 1 yr. warranty.
